I have a feeling a lot of XBots will be praising this game, despite feeling really really let down inside.
It is sad.

Re: Halo 2 Already Pirated
The same XBots who praised the first Halo despite the fact that it was really a letdown? Who is surprised?
But the can't stop a leaked game. The amateurs who get into it might have a hard time finding it, but those who regularly pirate games and download bootleg versions leaked months before their release, will return to their regular sources, Usenet groups, and private P2P servers.
Once it's out, it's out.

Re: Halo 2 Already Pirated
Wow, there are rumors that Halo 2 is a huge letdown? Like the rumors that the Xbox was really the "Crashbox" when it first came out? Like the naysayers who said that Halo wasn't the sublime game that it was because they WANTED it to be a letdown?
Don't believe everything you read. Trust a variety of reviews, not someone on the internet who claims to have the game.

Of course they'll say it's crappy. If they said it was good, they'd have to back it up with information, which they don't have.

Re: Halo 2 Already Pirated
I personally think that Halo 2 shouldn't be very different from the original, because it was that good of a console game. If it was radically different, I don't think it would be near as good as it can be.

I couldn't agree more. It's absurd to think that shutting some websites down will deter the distribution of already-existing bootlegged copies to the masses. And if you're smart, you'd never download from these slow, unstable sites anyway. Everyone and anyone who knows anything about bootlegging would use usenet, or bittorrent - neither of which MS holds influence.
I've said it before and I'll say it again: there is simply no reasonable way for MS to stop the current rampant piracy. Any deterrence will have to be relegated to their next venture. And even then, I'm not sure piracy will stop. After all, we all know MS has never been known to be proficient in deterring it.

Re: Halo 2 Already Pirated
I know a good deterrent: Smart Bombs. Everyone who prates a game gets a J-Dam down their chimney.
"Hey, this illegal copy of Halo 2 is GREAT. I can't wait to pirate all kinds of other games! Whats that sound?"
Its called a B2 Bomber, asshole.

Re: Halo 2 Already Pirated
Microsoft did it to themselves, they got sloppy with the control of copies of the game. It was already being spread around before I came over here in early August. Developers don't have the ability to put the game onto discs that a consumer Xbox can read, only Microsoft does, why they ever did it is beyond me, and if they did, they should've kept it on a very tight leash.
What I don't understand is this has all the signs of Microsoft deliberately leaking the game, much in the way Apple leaks software and info out to generate hype. But Halo 2 already had enough hype, and why take the risk of having mediocre feedback if they can sell the game just fine without anything but the name?

Re: Halo 2 Already Pirated
what are the odds that microshaft did release the game just for hype?
The whole E3 level is not in the leaked copy.
It takes 7-8 hours to complete
It have a "crappy ending and people are going to be very upset"
....maybe bungie and microsoft are doing the same thing like when in the star wars script, vader tells luke, anakin killed his father...
by the way, check out: www.halo2.com
