Re: Sales
Well SONY had to be tight asses and only release 200,000 units....but in any case didn't sell all of them. We'll see how they do in U.S.
Dragon Quest VIII I have to pick it up!!!

Re: Sales
Well, those numbers aren't too shocking. Noboyd expected the PSP to beat Nintendo in the handheld department. This is wear Nintendo excels. The PSP won't fail, just won't rape the DS.

Re: Sales
I love when a new Dragon Quest comes out and then see Japanese numbers a few weeks later. It's insane
But its nice to see that Sony sold moderately, although not a sell-out like I'm guessing they wanted but still a good start.

Re: Sales
basically they did sell out of it.
your never going to get an exact number. There was reports from japanese sales tracking companies that said over 170,000 on the first day.
the numbers are going to bounce up and down and gunna be reported differently dependong on who did the tracking.
same with DS. all you can get are rough estimates.

The numbers for just one week don't seem all that different, though. I might (very likely) be wrong, I don't know any sales numbers from previous non-Nintendo handhelds, but I think Sony could be doing better than any previous contender.
It coule be very possible that the PSP gains steam and knocks the DS down.
Or Sony could feel Nintendo's wrath as so many other companies have (in the handheld department).
Its too early to tell, really. Give it a year.

Yeah, I don't think that either of them will surpass the other by too much. I think it will end up how we have it in the console world. More the one system that isn't failing. (bad wording, I know)

Re: Sales
there will always be a rough numbers according to who reports it. Look at how they called this year's election.. so many channels with so many different numbers.
In any case, if Sony released more than 200,000 more people would've probably picked one up... instead of seeing that a lot of stores were sold out of them already. Yodabashi Camera the largest game store in the Shinjuku District sold out of the PSP in the first 3 hours. So... the numbers could be due to largely stores in different districts not carrying enough.
i.e. More Nintendo fans in one district, has more PSP's available when another district full of Sony fans suffer with a store thats sold out... I dunno if any of you catch my drift...
