Anyway, I have an optical mouse, NOT wireless. Don't want to lose my mouse, and who needs a wireless one anyway? They just cost you loads of batteries....

I always clean ball mouses, there's always a lot of dust on the wheels inside the thing. If you clean it, it runs much smoother. But that's not what your problem was.
