That was my impression. The video looked like the screen shots from GC Wars.

So... the revolutionary controller isn't out of the question anymore.

Re: Nintendo Press Conference
Is that real?
Well then, maybe the GC controller is meant to play all the games of past, and the rev controller is used PURELY for the rev... if only...
And Kyuzo, calm down, I'm used to you... in here and out of here...
That and I told you that I'm getting a PS3, just for show of course [/endsarcasm] , and the Revolution...

Re: Nintendo Press Conference
Well I've purposefully avoided posting anywhere in E3 discussions because I hate the antics.
But I'll make this post brief.
I went into E3 as unbiased as I could. I got really excited about PS3 last night. It's good except for the controller, which looks like ass.
So, today, when I logged on, I got all the Nintendo conference updates. I didn't bother coming here; I went straight to Nintendo.com. I was really happy with everything. The Gameboy Micro is really "meh" in my books. Unless it's like $40-$50, I won't be looking into it.
Zelda I'm really happy about. The art direction is superb, and I really love the graphics.
Then I got a gander at the Revolution. I'm really satisfied with it. The design is definitely the best part. There's nothing really horribly gimmicky with it. Overall, nothing I would change or add at all. I can't wait to see the games coming. And I haven't read much, but I can't see anything to complain about the Revolution, at all. Aside from the fanboys who will find SOME way to complain.
My only hope right now is that Nintendo gets the respect it deserves. I am so sick and tired of the Gamecube being whipped and tossed around this generation. The Revolution honestly looks a great deal more fixed than the Gamecube was. I will seriously hate anybody who ignores the Revolution when it comes to comparisons unless it arrives extremely flawed. Until then, I spit at anybody who just does "OMG PS3 vs. XBOX 360 this that".
Dyne out.

But see, problems with what Nintendo revealed about the revolution aren't what people are talking about, it's the lack of information...
If you ask me, the only threat there ever was of anything possibly being gimmicky had to do with the controller... Which... we still havn't seen... And will apparently be a huge part of the system and the way it works...
You can't see anything to complain about because we havn't really seen anything, and after Microsoft and especially Sony's huge showings, that's the whole problem people are having now...
Nintendo fanboys don't usually find ways to complain, they find ways to go insanely over-the-top apesh*t CRRAAZY excited over everything Nintendo reveals...

which is exactly what they should do. Sony isnt afraid of letting thier cards show. Nintendo is. Sony gave reasons to hold out on Xbox for a PS3. Nintendo shoulda tried to give reasons to hold out on PS3 for a nintendo. or at least, gave them a reason to wait and see whats coming from them.

I don't think Revolution's graphics will be as good as PS3, buy Kyuzo is making it sound like they are ging to be the difference between N64 and PS2. They won't. It'll be the difference of PS2 and XBox, if that. The further we go into these games the less of a difference you can notice.
|
And how quickly we forget nintendo did the same thing. i sure as hell remember seeing thoes tech demos at e3 long ago, holy cow. look at that amazing fight between ganon and link!!! gamecube is going to be so awsome! and fans ate up that hype like no tomorrow. this has ALWAYS been the case with all the consoles.
My main, and pretty much only problem with nintendos conference, is that they didnt give gamers a reason to wait for them. they didnt plant the seed.

Re: Nintendo Press Conference
I've been busy, so I'm a little late with all this, but after reading all about the PS3....well, all I can say is, Nintendo dug their own hole and I'd be laughing but I'm to busy drooling over the new Sony hardware. Can you say kick ass? Holy crap, the PS3 is godly right now, and if I get a next-gen console, which I probably won't, it'll be the PS3.

Again, I already mentioned what Sony said about PS2 and the Emotion Engine that never held up (70 million polygons, Toy Story in real-time), whereas Nintendo's battery life for GBA, DS, and Wavebird were more than they stated, and Wavebird can go WAY past the 20-30 feet or whatever number they gave it. I'm not going to argue specs about this generation because we don't know Nintendo's, numbers don't mean everything, and I'm 99.9% sure PS3 will be more powerful anyways.

Re: Nintendo Press Conference
So yeah, at the risk of setting myself up for a huge dissapointment, I am now, in my own mind, about 99% certain that Thursday will infact mean something big... And I think it's even tied into the mockup video...
Bada bing
That site has a very nice explanation of all the 'coincidences', where Aries has been right, the weird videos on Nintendo, etc...
From the second that guy from Nintendo said "We will show you the controller... Later... *little smile as everyone groans because they want it NOW!*", I had a feeling something was up... That by 'Later', he didn't mean fall, or next E3...
And then at the end of the article, this really caught my attention...
Quote:
Today at the Nintendo Press Conference was something even more astonishing. Reggie Fils-Aime mentioned multiple times that we all need to think with our “Right Brain”. A comment such as this isn’t very common, but for some reason also appears in the video as the name of the headset: “The Brain”
|
I think Nintendo intentionally made the amateurish Aries 'Insider blog', and had a hand in creating that mockup as well...
The graphics might not actually be from revolution (although they might), that headset might not be the real thing (although... it might)... But again, another amatuerish tidbit, reflecting the IDEA of what might be shown off Thursday...
I feel kinda silly... I sound like some fanboy in denial... "Nintendo's press conference was dissapointing! THEY MUST HAVE SOMETHING UP THEIR SLEAVE! PLZ!? *cries*"... But there just seem to be too many 'coincidental' connections for it to just be... a coincidence...
I'd be as mellow and mysterious as Danchastu was but I'm too excited about the possibilities! >_<

That'd be absolutely amazing. They could win Eł again with something like this.
If not true, worst Nintendo Eł action ever.

Re: Nintendo Press Conference
Well, I've been trying to tell Danny to keep it hush. Don't want to get folks hope up.
I don't know if you folks heard but these are the videos that were up at Nintendo.com before their conference. And the one about Thurs is the one most people are speculating about.
http://webpages.charter.net/danrarbc64/liz.wmv
http://webpages.charter.net/danrarbc64/andy.wmv
http://webpages.charter.net/danrarbc64/reggie.wmv
After watching them, I would only conclude it was a way to tell people to come back later (that day) for their e3 coverage since it was a countdown.
