Well, it's not Sony's call. And FFIX came out on the PS1 a few months after the PS2 had been released, so it's no different than FFXII coming out now.

This marks two games from director Matsuno to score a perfect 40/40 (Vagrant Story and now FFXII). That guy knows his sh*t.

Well.... I don't think FF IX sold very well, did it?

Too bad Vagrant Story was a steaming pile of crap. I get the feeling this is just Famitsu blowing their wad they've been saving up since FFX.

It could be just that good though, so we'll see.

I tried to like it, honestly. The cinematics were kickass. But the tedious blacksmithing really turned me off.

Japanese like games that look similar to that hence why it was higher scored there because they are used to that kind of style I thought

Its not so much the look of the game, but the whole looking for the Triforce peices that should have kept WW from getting a perfect score...

That was pretty annoying but the game had flawless execution.

I mean, it was no Ocarina of Time, but what is these days.

Even if Sony had any say in how Square/Enix releases its games (which it doesn't particularly after the merger), putting FF XII on the PS3 would delay the game until at least November and maybe until next year.

Here's hoping the game does well at any rate. Square/Enix has been hurting financially of late.
