From the little bits I've read about, Warcraft has a pretty fun little backstory and such to it's world...

I ponder how this'll turn it... Live Action, though? Hmmm *ponders*... Well, it worked for Lord of the Rings...

"pretty fun little backstory"? Warcraft possibly has a more complicated backstory than The Lord of the Rings! Really, it's HUGE. The movie could take place anywhere, in any time. Though they'll probably place it in the 'present', because of popularity etc.

The studio made Batman begins. I was hoping for a full CGI movie but the chances are slim that will happen now...

Just get all the races right please.

Yeah that's why live-action sounds like somewhat of a funny choice...

World of Warcraft's art design or whatever it's called has always been on the colorful, cartoony side...

I wonder if they will try to recreate that sort of deal, or if they'll turn it into a more gritty, realistic thing such as Lord of the Rings...

Hm...... the cinematics were never cartoony. Well maybe some proportions were a bit off, the expressions were a bit excegerated (spelling? ) etc. But not like the cartoony in-game graphics.

I find it very hard to see (famous) actors as my favorite game characters.

Maybe they can solve it by having totally unknown characters, so nobody will care about how they look.

Chronicles of Narnia came to my mind when I thought about Tauren etc. The creatures there were pretty amazing. Half life-action, half CGI I think.

I hope they decide to make it 100% CGI!

You know the CG intro you see when you first start up the game? All they need to do is make that into a movie. Live action will not work for this project, it'll look absolutely ridiculous and people will see it as a LotR wannabe/rip-off/etc.

A CGI WoW movie would actually be quite cool.

I dunno about that...there's full blown college classes dedicated to studying the whole mythology behind the world that Tolkien created. It actually goes quite a bit past what you get presented in Lord of the Rings. Albeit, Warcraft has a nice backstory, but Middle Earth has a whole mythology with different languages and back-stories and cultures.

They're both pretty awesome though. I love the Warcraft stuff.

Believe me, I know both the Tolkien and Warcraft mythologies.

The only thing that Middle Earth has that WoW doesn't have is languages.

I've read The Silmarillion and Unfinished Tales. Now that gives a broad picture of the Middle Earth stories. I know there's more, but believe me when I say that Warcraft also has a LOT.
