Personally, I am against it because don't like MArio RPG and think the Paper MArio and Mario and Luigi series are better.

They've done it before.

in Super Mario RPG, there were cameos from the Final Fantasy series (granted, they were only cameos) and they even did it in sports games (Mario Hoops 3 on 3).

if they use a SMRPG's style.. or something similar, it won't be a big deal.
