They'll release gameplay footage when they're good and ready to. Releasing gameplay footage of a game that has not entered beta is suicide. Everyone will rant and scream about every little imperfection and can't accept the fact that development isn't finished.

It's a lot easier to get team of animators together to pump out some good CG footage and let the world know GTA IV is in the making. So they did.

GTA:4 looks amazing. I'm hopeing they make the car damage a little more realistic this time at least though. Running into someone head up full speed on the hghway should kill you, or at least destroy the cars...
