I used to really like that series, but I have to say that now I just don't care about it. In my mind it simply is a reflection of overall gameplay mechanics that the industry surpassed years ago...

Apparently they've made big changes to the dated control system. Who knows how that has turned out, but I know I'll find out one way or another.
