Also, what's the reasoning behind not allowing members to edit their topic titles? I uderstand it on more active, open forums where quick edits would allow for some gross problems, but I'm not seeing that happening here, and if it did, that would be a good reason to then reinstate the limitation.

No reason. It simply wasn't turned on.

I've allowed editing for any and all thread titles, for an hour after you post a thread. Enjoy.
