Sheik and Zelda are the same as Zero Suit I believe, hold down the R button.

The Pokemon Trainer once you select him, you can move the finger over his profile pic to select the Pokemon you want to start with. Personally, I prefer Squirtle. The only problem I found with Pokemon trainer which is why stopped using him is you are vulnerable during the Pokemon switch so open for attack.

Zelda/Sheik is like Pokemon Trainer. You click on Zelda or Sheik in the little character box on the character selection screen, after you've placed your chip.
