Re: Do you finish games?
It's a combination of the last two, I get really antsy and buy way too many games at once, and some of them never touch. Dead Space, Assassin Creed, The Force Unleased, Metroid Prime Trilogy
And then some I play and get frustrated or bored with and just never play again, or I take a short break and never finish.
But the games I do finish, tend to happen quickly. MArio and Luigi, Mario Galaxy, Corruption, the Halo 3 n ODST, two Gears of War, Uncharted.. all within a few days.

Re: Do you finish games?
I beat most of the games I buy now, but never used to. Thats more a result of games getting shorter and easier than anything else.

Re: Do you finish games?
My answer would be yes and no.. but usually if I buy it, its a yes.
I beat games with a good story line that pulls me to keep playing. So I beat all the MGS games and any RPGs I own. I also beat games with good co-op modes. Like Halo, Perfect Dark, or to go old school.. Double Dragon.
But I don't beat games that just get more and more challenging from a gameplay standpoint without any good story to pull me through it. So I've yet to complete a GTA game, for example. Single player beat-em-up games collect dust for me... I'm suprised I got through Mario 64 (though it litterally took years of on and off play).

That actually reminds me of something else. Back in the old days, I used to pirate games, ROMs and such, but I found that very unsatisfactory. I NEVER beat those games or got much enjoyment out of it.
I think there is a certain level of pride and accomplishment you get from a game if you pay for it.

Re: Do you finish games?
Yeah if it's worth finishing I usually do. There are a few that I haven't finished because of something ridiculous near the end game.
Example, Windwaker. I will never do the Triforce quest at the end of that game ever. I don't care how much I actually thought that game was awesome, they ruined the fucking game for me with that.

A lot of people felt that way, luckily enough people bitched and moaned about it before I did the final two dungeons that I just found what I could while travelling to them. There were maybe 3 of them left when I had to search.
I did however hate having to find maps... get them to Tingle.. to find the coordinates of the piece... that was just awful mechanics.

Re: Do you finish games?
I always try to finish the games, although I get distracted very easily by either other games, or various other things that take up my time, and occasionally I won't play a game for months on end, and then suddenly get the urge to finally beat it.
Take Wind Waker for example. I'm borrowing it from Phil, and have been for months. I haven't mustered up the strength to finish it, because I've been getting sidetracked by photography and drawing.
But, unless a game sucks - if I start playing it, I intend to finish it.

Re: Do you finish games?
The older I get the harder it is for me to finish a game...I remember back in the day I would try to finish a game before starting a new one. That's a good attitude but if the game isn't fun it can become a chore.
The biggest problem for me is getting X amount of hours into a game, and then having something come up: school, work, project, whatever....and then I have to come back to the game several days or week later. That really kills the experience for me. So it becomes a battle of balancing gaming with life. I find that when I sit in front of a game for 10 hours straight it becomes really stressful for me, so I try to take breaks. Some games are just damn good though....last year I beat Ocarina of Time between my homework and finals. I think I knocked it out in a week in under 30 hours of gameplay time.

Same, but that was after coming back from a break of playing it. I don't remember what it was though, and I know it was at the Triforce fetch quest.
The ending was so worth the trouble though. One of my favorites.

Re: Do you finish games?
I've been working on finishing more games for the past year.
Last generation I had the worst case of game ADD. I would start playing a game, get 20% through and then start a new game

I've seen this with R4 cards for DS. People have about 100 games on a card. They spend maybe 5 minutes on a game, then get bored and try the next. They don't enjoy their games.
Games that I haven't beat (but am planning on):
Zelda: Phantom Hourglass
Golden Sun: The Lost Age
Zelda 1 (75%)
Zelda 2 (only the stupid boss left)
Hm I know there have to be more... Especially some GameCube games (we bought sooo many of those). And it looks like I never finish my Zeldas, but it just means I play every Zelda.

Re: Do you finish games?
Yeah its harder to enjoy pirated/free games. I'm the type to not buy anything pirated (or even used for that matter) if I feel the game is a really good work of art. Like with MGS4, I ended up waiting a few weeks to get it just so I didn't have to buy it used. (Even though I already beat it lol)
I just like showing companies some love if they make something I like a lot.
