I'm all for the death of flash. It's such a painfully slow and buggy platform. And I'm all for everyone using the open standard HTML5 so I don't have to worry about keeping a crappy Flash add-on updated, and I can browse video sites like they're a normal text and photo site.

I'm with Apple on this. But it doesn't make the painful transition from Flash to HTML5 any easier. At least I'm not a developer worrying about converting all my video and sites.

There's a lot of things to gripe about regarding Apple as of late, but I don't know if this is one of them. As an avid PC user I can say that I hate flash. I hate the fact that it is an extra plugin, that it is buggy, and that it is often the source of security problems and spyware.

My two favorite Firefox Add-ons: Flashblock and NoScript.

Flash is going to go the way of the Dinosaur, and Adobe can make money with their other overly priced programs that 99% of people will continue to pirate.

Ya, I've always hated Flash. I prefer web standards instead of plug-ins. But that being said, I'm not quite sure HTML5 is ready quite yet to completely replace it, Flash isn't ready for the iPhone/iPad yet either, so it's a horse a piece.

Just glad to see the standards movement didn't die because of Youtube.

BTW, if you're a Mac person, there's an awesome plug-in called Click for Flash, which blocks all flash from running until you click on it. Basically, blocks all annoying adds, but still lets you make one click to watch a video. Also automatically grabs any YouTube videos and plays them in H.264... so awesome.
