The biggest criticism of Kony 2012 I've seen is the distribution of funds, but considering their business plan their distribution makes sense to me. They spend a lot on getting the word out because their mission is to get people's attention and keep their attention until the job is done. Basically, they want to influence world powers to take a stand against African warlords, and I think they're using the ICC's #1 enemy to give the effort international legitimacy. You can argue the plan is unsound, but I don't think there is any evidence to claim that it is insincere or they have false intentions. I think we spend far too much time debating people's sincerity these days. In politics, or otherwise. We've become cynical.

Personally? I think they should just us that money to hire Blackwater to track down and kill the guy, then move on the the next on the list.

This is how I feel. People should research what they are donating to before they donate. IC is pretty up front with their love of making films to raise awareness. That stuff is expensive, it's pretty obvious that's where a lot of money is going to go to. Personally I think that's still a good cause.

The guy in the video you posted put a huge emphasis on how the money should be going "straight to the kids." I feel like constantly funneling your money into something like that is often like throwing it into a black hole. Nothing is going to change things long term if you don't cut out the root of the problem.

What IC is dong is pretty unique for a non-profit, I think it needs to exist.

As for the legitimacy of the plan, I don't think they need to go into details like that in a promotional film. The masses don't want to hear about foreign policy and all that it entails.

1. Didn't watch original video
2. Didn't watch rebuttal video
3. Didn't read response to the rebuttal video
4. Heard information second hand
5. Doesn't care

Conclusion: Shouldn't have posted

If you donate or not, at least the message and awareness is being spread, and effectively at that. I see people making fun of those spreading the message on FB and other social media. Why?

1. How can you be against spreading awareness of such a topic? These are human beings.

2. It not causing you any grief at all.

3. It's a positive message

That being said, all the donating, posters, and advisers in the world wont capture the man. The job is left up to the Ugandan military to do all the grunt work. a 3rd world army with American advisers is still a 3rd world army.
