John Carmack, head of id Software, announced earlier today at QuakeCon that a port of DOOM III would hit the Xbox sometime before next year’s E3, currently scheduled for mid-May. Carmack specified Microsoft’s machine as the only console that the company will port the highly anticipated FPS to, promising that none of the game’s graphical quality would be compromised. Work will begin on the DOOM III Xbox port as soon as the PC version is complete.
