If you shoot those crimson things twice in the head with the shotgun they die..... usually... sometimes it takes only 1.... and if you don't let them get close enough to you, sometimes it takes 3...
You're always gonna run into some, but you can always prevent certain ones... and if you don't, it just uses up more like shotgun/bazooka/whatever ammo... handguns are a no no against them... too fast...
