strat guides ruin the fun of playing and finding everything on your own.

It depends on the person, and it depends on the game, and it also depends on how far you are into the game.

In a game with extreme diffuculty, and a huge lack of instructions from the manual... Strategy guides can make the game much more fun. For me, games that fall into this category would be Perfect Dark and Goldeneye. There are also a whole host of other games I had to access online sources or get some type of help for.

I've never came accross a game where the strategy guide acctually hurt the game's fun factor... but then again, I only use guides when I absolutly need them.

GTA3 is pretty easy if you ask me... but there were some points in which I had to go to gameFAQs.com to get a little help. Chances are a guide won't be needed for Vice City.

you needed a strat guide for GE ?!?

part of the fun is doing it on your own.

Well, I beat Goldeneye on my own on Agent... then on Secret Agent I got half way through the game and quit playing for months (maybe even a year)... one day I decided to pick up the manual, and it gave me assistance to beat the game and unlock the secrits.

The game was hard and fustrating before the guide, after the guide it was fun...

Some stuff people don't want to figue out on thier own. In GE's case, it was simply too diffucult, and that ruined the game for me. Once I got the guide, it gave me a little more direction. Now I have every Cheat unlocked, and beat every level on the hardest diffuculty. The guide made the game twice as fun... and it didn't ruin the fun of me doing stuff on my own, because it only gave me direction. The game was still hard after I got the guide, I just figured out how to complete the missions.

So, in other words, a guide can make a game more fun to play... Like I said, depends on the person, and it depends on the game.

Another game a guide rejuvinated was Pokemon. On Blue and Red, I had no problem getting 139... Gold and Silver were beat, done with, and colecting dust. Once again I get a guide, and it makes the game fun again... it points me in the direction of the Pokes.
