The good thing about this merger is that maybe the new games will have the best attributes from both DQ and FF.

Yeah, I think they can help out the FF series a lot if Enix and Square do projects together like this.
This caught me by surprise yesterday. It was so cool.

I thought the FF series is going online... and they are just making sequals to old FF games. Enix is good with MMORPGs or somthing?

So THAT'S why Dragon Warrior 1 sucked...
Dragon Warrior is the same as Dragon Quest, right? It's just called Dragon Quest in Japan, yeah? :o DW1 was the only one I've played, maybe the newer ones are better

When did they say they would make offline ones? I mean, on the series line?
There is:
FF:CC
FFX-2
FF7-2
But I'm talkin bout FF12, 13, 14 etc. I think I remember them saying they are making the whole series after FFX MMORPGs.

Thats not true. For one, FF7-2 hasnt even been officially announced, its just a rumour..
Square did say that FF12 + would be online, but not in the way of MMORPGs. Ff12 will be online, but in a different way. It wont be like FF11, like say, FF12 might have online strategy guides, online tips, downloadable weapons, armor, skills, abilities, sidequests etc taht can be used for 1 player offline. However, the game's minigame could be online. But thats about as far as it would go. FF12 will probably be out in 2003 in Japan, and Square just released an expansion for FF11, so why would they keep making new MMORPGs when they can just expand from Ff11? Just like EverQuest. They wont need to make a new MMORPG until the next generation of consoles or 3 years from now.

IGN had an article a long time ago (a bit after when FFX was revealed I think) and some Square guy said that games that come after FF11 will be different type of online. So my guess is that they will have downloadable extras, etc. Although there has been no official details.

For the investment ratio, Yasuhiro Fukushima will hold 30% of Square Enix, Miyamoto will hold 18% and Sony Computer Entertainment will hold 8%.

Is that Shigeru Miyamoto??? If that's true, that's good news!!

Is that really Shigeru Miyamoto?
Isn't there more than one Miyamoto over in Japan?

Meh... I highly doubt that some no-fame Miyamoto would buy 18% in this company. Think about it. 18%!
In fact, now that I think about it, Square must have planned this out... because now Sony will back off.... like they have! Excellent. And they'll more than likely focus on the cube more, seeing as they would never choose XBox as a medium.
Kaching!
But then who the hell is Fukushima again? *goes to search*

Well, I found out that Fukushima is the new chairman of the company. Go fig.
And hey, guess what.

Square will be desolving and merging into Enix, with Enix trading 0.81 stock to each Square stock. Enix CEO Fukushima and associates will invest approximately 30% to the new company's capital, with Square's top shareholder Masashi Miyamoto leading behind at 18 % and Square's second top shareholder SCE at 8%.

Goddamn. Just.... Goddamn.
Well, I hope that still means PS2 gets less priority.
