1st public gay high school set for NY

GameMaster, your logic has been proven wrong through past usage. Remember segregation? Remember the video and pictures you saw of black people being hosed and beaten for trying to enter a white only restaurant? Did segregation SOLVE any problems with intolerance, or just create more of a rift in the classes and allow the races to further their ignorance? By your comments you spit on everything that the civil rights protesters fought for during that time.

I mean, better yet, we should let all gay people move to a whole different small continent, and then we won't have to be bothered by them at all. Or maybe we should MAKE them. This brings up a good point. Does the fact that these gay students WANT to have a separate school make the idea of segregation more palatable to usa nd more acceptable? If so, what doe that say about us?

This is a COP OUT along the same lines as blaming violence and crime on video games and the movies. Instead of trying to cure the disease we find it is much easier to treat the symtom and allow the disease more air to breath and room to grow.

If this happens this school will become a freak show. People will walk by gawking and saying "look at the GAY school". I prefer to look at gays as people, and not zoo animals, which is what every kid who goes to that school will become. They will become oddities and begin to lose their humanity in the eyes of the general populace. The more I think about the worse of an idea this is.

What the hell are you talking about? The whole reason why segregation DIDN'T last was due to non-violent protest. Its very hard for even the more heated racist to justify torturing someone who is just standing there. Now if the civil rights movement would have gone the way of revolution, our race relations today would be VERY different and filled with violence and animosity and possibly even a war that would have resolved itself in racial cleansing. Think of the big picture.

Is violence against gays wrong? There is no question, but going the way of segregation will do NOTHING to stop it, and it will most likely only make things worse.

Dont they already have that? I've saw a few shows advertised like "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy". Its also notable that they get really good ratings. QEftSG brought Bravo from being rated like 38 on the night it was displayed up into the top 10. Im not sure on exact positions, but the leap it made was huge. There are also some other shows focused around the gay audience, but Im not sure the names of those.

Awe the new string of reality shows, have they really run out of good ideas?

I mean there is that, Queer as Folks and some other show on Fox I believe that tries to match up gay men with other men, but not all of the matches are gay or something like that.

I just wonder why they bother...
