I'm a big fan of the original 1080 also but from what I've heard about the controls....not very good. SSX 3 is looking far more impressive so far.

Re: played f-zero, rs:3, and white storm today
I saw the disk today too... I only got to play 1080 and SC2
1080: Maybe it was just the demo, but this game seems terrible. The gameplay seems to be just as odd as the old game, not very smooth or responsive gameplay. The difference is the old one was on the cutting edge of technology at the time, and that made it easy to love... this one just looks bland... SSX owns it. In fact, the demo was so horrible, that it was a half pipe and I quit before even finishing.
Hopfully the real game has some mind blowing tracks, because the gameplay isn't going to save this one. I don't even want to take the time again to learn those over-complecated tricks.
SC2: Up to my expectations... still the same ol button masher. Very few fighting games are deep enough to warrant a purchase... and this doesn't seem to be one of them. I'll give a rent to pass final judgement though.

I didn't play SC2, but I played SC and that was definitely worth the purchase. PRetty deep fighting system I reckon. But the game is for button mashers too, and even with all the skill in the world, you can lose to button mashers.

Agreed.
Too me SC fighting system was very deep, but like you said a button masher could always pick up the controller a get few moves out and beat you.

What about the views in FZero? Anybody knows if you can change it to the cockpit point of view?

"But no, Nintendo forgets that the consumer is buying it."
Well thats interesting, cause MK: DD, Kirby:Air Ride, and 1080: Avalanche all have LAN.
Maybe Sega felt it didnt need it?

I already knew those games are going to be LAN'ed. But I was saying Sega/Nintendo could easily market this game more if it had LAN with it. It's a game that easily deserves at least a LAN setup.

Re: played f-zero, rs:3, and white storm today
IGN reviewed F-Zero GX and it got better scores then EGM gave. (This considering usually IGN is a little more strict, but also reinforces the fact that EGM people are getting too strict sometimes).
Presentation
Near perfect. From slick, intuitive menus to the full use of the F-Zero license (FMV, Story Mode, etc.) and Garage Mode, it's all there. 10.0
Graphics
Gorgeous. Beautiful tracks. Amazing particle and lighting effects. Lots of geometry. Crisp, stylish FMV. 60 frames. Progressive scan, 16x9. One or two unimpressive tracks keep it from perfection. 9.0
Sound
Surprisingly well done. Clean, funny voice work mingles with catchy rock and techno tunes that you'll actually want to listen to. Some sound effects seem subdued. 9.0
Gameplay
Extremely fun, addictive but also sometimes-frustrating and incredibly difficult racer. Tight control. Smart level design. Pros will cherish the experience. Novices may hate it. 9.0
Lasting Appeal
As much as we could hope (minus a track editor). 15 standard cups plus a wealth of unlockable ones. Nine Story Mode chapters. Garage Mode. Multiplayer Mode. Wow! 10.0
Not too bad. Tuesday seems so far away

I was at a local Super Wal-Mart today, and there was a Nintendo Rep there at the Gamecube booth, and they were doing a little contest thing with Tony Hawk 4. I got a little wristband-watch just for participating, and I got the Highest score in my timeslot so I won a Nintendo Backpack. The lady was like ''we should be having this with F-Zero, its newer'' and im like yea...anyways it just felt good to win something...
I scored 57,000 on my 2 minute run, BTW...not sure which level it was, the one with the logs and stuff...I dont own the game. I actually left before my timeslot was over, but they called and said I had won...so I gotta go pick it up.

Hehe I'd love to do one of those contests. I heard that they once did a Golden Eye contest here, but I didn't know it.
