heres mine , and i always had 800x600 , always was kool so never changed it, u know the old "if it aint broke " thing  .....
edit: wasnt workin but hopefully it iz now

I have it at 1024x768 i beleive.. i would go higher but my moniter is about 4 feet from where i sit, and its not that i wouldnt be able to read the writing it would just be a bit of an annoyance. If my moniter was closer to me id definately put my resolution to the next one up tho. I doubt some of my friends would even let me do that tho cuz most of them dont have as good vision as me and switch it to 800x600 when they come over anyway 
uhm.. im lazy to make a pic of my desktop.. its ugly tho.. the default windows xp theme
